HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4549 { RESOLUTION NO. 4549 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ESTABLISHING SPECIFICATIONS FOR UNDERGROUNDING COMMUNITY ANTENNA TELEVISION (CATV) FACILITIES BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the Specifications for Undergrounding of Community Antenna Television (CATV) Facilities , attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof as though set out in full herein, are hereby adopted as the City of Huntington Beach standard specifications for said facilities . Not less than three ( 3) copies of said specifications are on file in the Office of the City Clerk. Resolution No. 4281 is hereby repealed. CATV Specifications Page two (f) In undeveloped areas or areas where changes of landmarks are expected to occur, 16 to 18GA copper wire shall be buried in the conduit, with the ends exposed at each vault or pedestal location in order to facilitate the exact location of the buried conduit run. 3 . Underground vaults and boxes for electronic components of the installed system shall have covers which are : (a) Fitted securely and flush to the ground; (b) Colored to match the surrounding area; and (c) Approved by the Director of Public Works prior to installation. 4 . On-site installations shall comply with the following: (a) The building lateral shall consist of one (1) inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC, ABS, or polyethylene . (b) Such lateral will be run to all new buildings-- residential, industrial and commercial . (c) Only one such lateral need be installed per building (not per tenant space) . (d) Such lateral shall be installed along the most direct, practical line from the pull box at the property line to the nearest point of the building. (e) Such lateral shall be stubbed up at the building a minimum of six (6) inches above pp grade and capped. g (f) The lateral shall be furnished with a locater wire/ pull wire which shall be a minimum of 18 gauge copper installed inside the conduit . (g) The conduit shall be buried a minimum of eighteen (18) inches below grade. CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SPECIFICATIONS FOR UNDERGROUNDING OF COMMUNITY ANTENNA TELEVISION (CATV)FACILITIES Underground facilities shall be installed in conformance with the following specifications and requirements : 1 . All new development shall provide conduit and 18GA copper wire marker in continuous sealed runs and shall provide no less than one (1) main trunk or distribu- tion conduit to the following specifications : Conduit size shall be two ( 2) inches for trunk and one and one-half (1 112) inches for distribution conduit . The duct shall be Schedule 40 PVC, ABS, or high molecular weight polyethylene Rome specification 221X-G or equal. 2 . The minimum specification for ducting shall be as follows : (equivalent or better standards may be sub- stituted) (a) Conduit shall be placed underground at a minimum depth of eighteen (18) inches; (b) All conduits are to be located behind the curb, within the parkway area of the street, unless other locations are authorized by the Director of Public Works; (c) All service laterals from street to home shall be : (1) Where it passes under the street, a minimum of one and one-half 1 V2 inches with a pull box in the parkway; (2) Direct to subscriber, a minimum of one (1) inch Schedule 40 PVC, ABS, or high molecular poly- ethylene . (d) Conduit shall be laid, connected, and sealed in continuous runs . "Bell" or overlapping ends two (2) inches to three (3) inches deep shall be used or, alternatively, sealed slip couplers may be used.
