HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4560 RESOLUTION N0. 4560 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING A CERTAIN PUBLIC WORKS PROJECT TO BE LET WITHOUT ADVERTISING FOR BIDS DUE TO URGENT NECESSITY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF LIFE, HEALTH AND PROPERTY WHEREAS, City Charter Section 1211 provides that public works contracts may be let and purchases made without advertising for bids if such work shall be deemed by the City Council to be of urgent necessity for the preservation of life, health and property, and shall be authorized by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the total members of the City Council; and The Director of Public Works has declared that the following described project is of urgent necessity for the preservation of life, health or property, and recommends City Council approval for the Public Works Director and the Purchasing Officer, if necessary, to proceed with the purchase of the necessary materials and let the necessary contracts for said project without bidding in the open market : To install a new slab and footing for the city helicopter hanger located on the west side of Gothard Street between Ellis Avenue and Talbert Avenue . The existing slab has settled and cracked, causing an unsafe working condition for the heli- copter mechanics . Work would consist of jacking up the hanger and placing a new concrete slab over the existing one . The estimated cost is Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000) . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it hereby approves the recommendations of the Director of Public Works, and authorizes said public works project and purchases to be made in the open market without adver- JG:cs 1. tising for bids , and authorizes the Director of Public Works to contact a local contractor(s) for estimates on said public works project , and authorizes a cost-plus contract to be let for labor, equipment, materials and overhead, and the City Council deems such project to be an urgent necessity for the preservation of life , health or property ., PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of November, 1977 . i ATTEST: y City Clerk REVIEWED AND APPROVED: APPROVED AS TO FORM: Ci Administrator City Attorne tp7,—,-',_ INITIATED AND APPROVED AS TO CONTENT: Public Wo s Director 2 .
