HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4596 RESOLUTION N0. 4596 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING AND COMMENDING RAIL SERVICE TO THE LOS ANGELES, ORANGE AND SAN DIEGO CORRIDOR AND COMMENDING LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERVISOR BAXTER WARD FOR HIS PART IN SAME WHEREAS, the Counties of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego constitute a transportation corridor; and The Boards, of Supervisors of the three counties have been working together for several years to provide rail service in the three counties; and The "El Camino" will commence service through the three counties on February 14 , 1978, and the people of Orange County will benefit from this service ; and The County of Orange will benefit socially and economically because of the new convenience of rail service into and out of the County; and The Orange County Transit District , the Southern California Rapid Transit District, the North San Diego Transit District , and the San Diego Transit Corporation will be serving the AMTRAK stations in the three counties, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it hereby supports "El Camino" service and commends it to the residents of Orange County . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does commend Los Angeles County Supervisor Baxter Ward for his diligence in bringing "El Camino" service to the Los Angeles , Orange and San Diego Corridor.
