HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4727 RESOLUTION NO. 4727 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCREASE THEIR ALLOCATION FROM THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ELLIS AVENUE BETWEEN SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD AND GOTHARD STREET WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach desires to improve Ellis Avenue between Southern Pacific Railroad and Gothard Street. Ellis Avenue is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general county interest, and Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highway Code authorizes a county, if it so desires, to . expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any city in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a city, and The Board of Supervisors did include in the 1973-1974 Fiscal Year Budget, funds for the improvement of Ellis Avenue as Project 688 in the Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to increase their allo- cation to the city from county funds in the amount of $329,600, said amount to be matched by funds from said city, to be used to aid said city in the improvement of Ellis Avenue between Southern Pacific Railroad and Gothard Street. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work on Ellis Avenue, in the manner provided, is in the general county interest . /sh 2/27/79 1. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Huntington Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights-of-way will be available for the fiscal year 1978-1979.
