HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4803 RESOLUTION NO. 4803 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO DIRECT THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO TAKE ANY AND ALL STEPS NECESSARY TO CONTROL OUTBREAK OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES WHEREAS , immigration in large numbers of displaced persons from southeast Asia to this country has been permitted by the Federal government; and Such immigrants have been relocated in areas throughout the United States without proper quarantine for health and medical examinations and clearance; and As a result of such relocation segments of the American people have been exposed to diseases normally under adequate con- trol; and Approximately 1500 immigrants a month arrive in Orange County to find homes and seek employment, some of whom are carrying and spreading some form of communicable disease; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the Board of Supervisors is ur- gently requested to direct the Orange County Health Department to take whatever steps necessary to protect the residents of this county against an epidemic of commmunicable diseases resulting from the relocation in the county of displaced persons who have entered the nation without undergoing proper screening and quaran- tine procedures .
