HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4837 RESOLUTION NO . 4837 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ESTABLISHING BY APPOINTMENT OF THE MAYOR A COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE TO PROMOTE AND PUBLICIZE THE 1980 CENSUS WHEREAS , it is incumbent upon every good government to be informed about the conditions of the people which it serves; and Proper decisions about future growth, development, expendi- tures, and community activity must be based upon accurate in- formation; and A major source of information which is vital to the plans of government, business and industry is the population census ; and A census of the United States of America will be conducted in April 1980 in which all of the inhabitants thereof are to be enumerated; and Dissemination of information through all local facilities of the news media, both published and televised, is necessary and de- sirable to insure community awareness of the significance and confidentiality of the census; and The Bureau of the Census has furnished guidelines and a list of suggested activities , together with the recommendation that a local Complete Count Committee be formed to publicize the census, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the Mayor is authorized to appoint a Complete Count Committee to publicize and promote public aware- ness of the April 1980 census .
