HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4977 RESOLUTION NO. 4977 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE REPEAL OF THE FEDERAL ESTATE TAX WHEREAS, the Federal Estate Tax imposes an unfair burden on middle income taxpayers while at the same time exempts lower income taxpayers, and various legal processes enable the upper level income taxpayers to avoid such tax; and Government should not profit from any law which cannot be administered fairly and equitably; and The monies derived from the Federal Estate Tax do not off- set the expense of collecting such tax, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it urges repeal of the Federal Estate tax, and to this end solicits the support of the League of California Cities, the Southern California Association of Governments , the National League of Cities, the United States Congress , and President Reagan. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 16th day of March 1981.
