HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 5001 RESOLUTION NO. 5001 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING LEGISLATION TO RE- QUIRE RECOGNIZABLE PRICING ON ALL ITEMS OFFERED FOR PURCHASE BY THE PUBLIC WHEREAS, advanced computer science has instituted a system of price coding by the manufacturer on items commonly found in markets and groceries; and Such coding system is not readily understood by the purchaser of such commodities without resorting to research, and is the source of considerable inconvenience to the public, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it fully endorses legislation which would require all stores which stock items bearing such manu- facturer' s coding system, to mark all commodities offered for sale to the public with the exact price stamped in arabic numerals thereon so that the purchaser can readily determine and understand the cost of such items, and urges that such legislation be enacted forthwith. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to appropriate state legis- lators , the League of California Cities, and the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
