HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 5023 RESOLUTION NO. 5023 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ESTABLISHING AN OPERATING POLICY FOR ITS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS WHEREAS, the City Council finds it desirable to establish an operating policy for its various boards and commissions , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it does hereby set forth the following policy for all its boards and commissions : 1 . All advisory boards and commissions shall be estab- lished by the City Council , including the duration, the manner of appointment, the term of office, and the powers and duties . 2. When deemed necessary, the City Council shall cause to be set aside in the budget for each fiscal year an amount nec- essary for the functioning of such advisory boards and com- missions . 3 • Unless otherwise specified by the City', Council, all members of advisory boards and commissions shall be residents of the city of Huntington Beach. 4. No person shall serve on more than one board or com- mission at any one time. Those persons presently serving on more than one board or commission may complete the current term of office for each respective board and/or commission to which they were appointed. 5. No person serving on any board or commission shall hold any paid office or employment in the Huntington Beach city govern- ment while so serving or for a period of one year after such ser- vice is completed; provided, however , that an officer or employee presently serving on any board or commission may complete the current term of office to which he or she was appointed. 6 . Members shall serve until their respective successors are appointed and qualified. 7 . All meetings of boards and commissions ' shall be open to the public unless subject to the exceptions contained in the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code commencing with section 54950) .
