A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 2371
WHEREAS, the crime of burglary has greatly increased through-
out the state in recent years ; and
Burglary is a premeditated crime, and the victims are sel-
dom, if ever, compensated for their losses; and
Assembly Bill No . 2371 introduces much-needed legislation
which would require restitution, and in the case of juvenile of-
fenders,, make the parents of such offenders jointly and severally
responsible with them; and
Such legislation establishes reasonable minimum sentences for
convicted burglars and eliminates probation; and
The courts of the county in which persons , whether adult or
juvenile, are convicted of committing a burglary, are mandated to
furnish local law enforcement agencies with identifying and bio-
graphical information concerning .local burglars ,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach does hereby support Assembly Bill No. 2371 and urges its
adoption to give law enforcement agencies and the courts tools
designed to reduce the incidence of burglary in this city and
throughout the state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby di-
rected to furnish copies of this resolution to Assemblyman
Nolan Frizzelle and other appropriate members of the state
legislature.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the lst
day of_ March 1982.
