HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 5107 r RESOLUTION NO . 5107 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO DEVELOP A BLUFF PARK, GENERALLY LOCATED BETWEEN NINTH AND GOLDENWEST STREETS, A PORTION OF BOLSA CHICA STATE PARK WHEREAS, the portion of Bolsa Chica State Park, on the bluffs overlooking the ocean and beach between Ninth and Goldenwest Streets in Huntington Beach, is currently an un- attractive site which has not been developed to its fullest recreational and visual aesthetic potential ; and Individual citizens and businesses in Huntington Beach have contributed over $80 ,000 for the purpose of developing an attrac- tive park on the bluffs ; and The city has contributed $50 ,000 to the development of such park; and Approval for development of this bluff park has been granted by the California Department of Recreation and Parks ; and The beach below the bluffs serves large numbers of Orange County residents as well as persons from outside the county, and helps meet a regional recreation need; and The cost of developing the bluff park is estimated to be approximately $250 ,000 for the first phase, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it respectfully requests the Board of Supervisors of Orange County to authorize a contribution of funds in this cooperative effort to expand this regionally im- portant portant recreation facility by development of the park on top the bluffs.
