A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING BANNING AVENUE-19TH
STREET EXTENSION, SANTA ANA RIVER BRIDGE PROJECT
WHEREAS, additional crossings of the Santa Ana River are
needed, based on current and future traffic demands, to reduce
vehicle miles traveled which, in turn, would reduce the consump-
tion of energy and improve air quality; and
Such crossings would relieve the congestion presently en-
countered on Pacific Coast Highway and Hamilton Bridges as well
as provide additional exits from Huntington Beach in case of
major disaster; and
The Environmental Management Agency of Orange County has
proposed an additional_ crossing of the Santa Ana River by ex-
tending Banning Avenue and 19th Street, which crossing would
serve residential, industrial and commercial areas in the cities
of Costa Mesa, Huntinton Beach and Newport Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach that it does hereby support the Santa
River Project, as proposed by the Environmental Management Agency
of Orange County, to add a bridge at the extension of Banning
Avenue and 19th Street.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to send
copies of this resolution to Orange County Environmental
Management Agency, the Orange County Transportation Commission
and the Cities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.

that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular adjourned meeting thereof held on the 25th day
