A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
FUNDS UNDER THE CALIFORNIA SENIOR CENTER BOND
ACT OF 1984 FOR EXPANSION OF RODGERS SENIORS
CENTER
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have ap-
proved the Senior Center Bond Act of 1984 which provides funds
to public and private nonprofit agencies for the purpose of
acquiring, constructing, altering or renovating senior centers
and purchasing equipment or funding start-up costs for senior
centers; and
The California Department of Aging has been delegated the
responsibility for the administration of the program, setting
up necessary procedures governing applications by public and
nonprofit groups under the program; and
Said procedures established by the California Department of
Aging require the applicant to certify by resolution the ap-
proval of applications prior to submission of said applications
to the state ; and
The project applied for under this program must be of a
high priority and satisfy the most urgent need with priority on
unmet senior center needs from rural, low-income and racial or
ethnic minority areas,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach that it hereby:
1. Approves the filing of an application for funding under
the Senior Center Bond Act of 1984;
2. Certifies that the senior center will be available for
use by all senior citizens;

3 Certifies that the City of Huntington Beach has or will
have sufficient funds or other resources to operate and main=
tain the senior center funded under this program; and
4. Certifies that the City of Huntington Beach has or will
have available prior to commencement of any work on the proj-
ect, matching money from a nonfederal or nonstate source; and
5. Certifies that the City of Huntington Beach will comply
with all federal, state, and local environmental, public
health, relocation, affirmative action, and clearinghouse re-
quirements and all other appropriate codes, laws and regula-
tions applicable to the project; and
6. Certifies that the project included in this application
conforms to the Area Plan on Aging for the Planning and Service
Area in which the senior center is located; and
7. Appoints the City Administrator as agent of the City of
Huntington Beach to conduct all negotiations, execute and sub-
mit all documents including, but not limited to, applications,
agreements, amendments, payment requests, reports, etc which
may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned
project.-

adjourned
Huntington Beach at a/regular meeting thereof held on the 6th
day of August , 1985.
