A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH FIXING THE FISCAL YEAR
1986/87 TAX RATE IN SAID CITY
WHEREAS, the Orange County Assessor ' s Office has not
provided the 1986-87 assessed valuation in sufficient time to adopt
a tax rate; and
WHEREAS, City Charter mandates a tax rate be adopted by
August 31; and
WHEREAS THE City Charter states that if the City Council
fails to fix the rate and levy taxes on or before August 31 in any
year, the rate for the next preceding fiscal year shall thereupon be
automatically adopted and a tax at such rate shall be deemed to have
been levied on all taxable property in the City for the current
fiscal year .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach that the rate of taxation for said City for
fiscal year 1986-87 be fixed at zero and .05529/100ths dollars
($. 05529 ) upon each one hundred dollars ($100 ) of assessed property
value in said City. The said rate shall be applied as follows:

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at the adjourned regular meeting held on the 25th
day of August, 1986.

Note: The property tax levy for the Retirement portion of the voter approved
indebtedness is limited by state law to the maximum of the amount levied in 1983/84
or the levy needed to cover 100% of the indebtedness cost, whichever is less. Since
the City elected, prior to 1983/85, to levy less than 100% of the cost, the 1983/84 levy
is the maximum levy for the City. It covers about 80% of retirement costs.

I, ALICIA M. WENTWORTH, the duly elected qualified City
Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the
City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number of
members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular adjourned meeting thereof held on the 25th day
of August 19 86 by the following vote:
