RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING ADEQUATE FUNDING
FOR THE STATE'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS
WHEREAS, the Foundation of America rests on an enlightened,
educated society and,
Effective public schools contribute to the overall quality
of life in our nation and in our city and,
Strong community schools are necessary for the maintenance
of property values , and for safe neighborhoods free from
juvenile crime and,
Local public schools within Huntington Beach have been
faced with little local control in the financing of their
day-to-day operations and,
Present financing forecasts have resulted in budget
shortfalls within the Ocean View Elementary, Huntington Beach
City, Fountain Valley Elementary and Huntington Beach Union
High School Districts ;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Huntington
Beach is on record as supportive of the efforts of local citizens
and taxpayers to secure a long-term and adequate funding source
for the State's public schools .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be forwarded to
local legislators and to the Governor in hopes that funds can be
released that will allow the local districts to maintain and to
build upon successful educational practices that benefit the
children of our city.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at regular meeting thereof held on the 15th
day of June , 1987 . 12a

I, ALICIA M. WENTWORTH, the duly elected, qualified City
Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the
City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number of
members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day
of June 19 87 by the following vote:
