A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING THE EXTENSION
OF ROUTE 57 TO ROUTE 405
WHEREAS, improvement to the regional traffic circulation
system benefit all the citizens of the region, and
The County of Orange and the City of Huntington Beach have
adopted Master Plans of Arterial Highways to guide the
implementation of such improvements, and
State Route 57 is currently a major component of the Orange
County Freeway network that is heavily traveled by commuters who
rely on it as a principal north/south thoroughfare, and
If extended through its current terminus to intersect
Interstate 405, the Orange Freeway would help to relieve pressure
from the already congested State Route 55 and local arterial streets
and highways, and
Assembly Bill 680 permits and encourages Caltrans to enter
into agreements with private entities for construction and operation
of four transportation demonstration projects using tolls, and
Assembly Bill 680 designates one of these projects to be
located in Southern California.
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City of Huntington
Beach does hereby recognize the importance of promoting State Route
57 as a candidate for the AB 680 private toll road program, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City of Huntington Beach
endorses this designation and will advocate the selection of this
corridor, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City of Huntington Beach will
support the extension of State 57 Orange County to intersect
Interstate 405 as part of a program of traffic circulation
completion improvements that include of the Master Plan of Arterial

Highways, specifically the bridges proposed at Garfield/Gisler and
Banning/19th Street.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
adjourned
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting on the 22nd day of January
1990 .

I, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City
Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the
City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number of
members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of at least a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular adjourned meeting thereof held on the 22nd day
of January 1990 by the following vote:
