HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 6312 RESOLUTION NO. 6312 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING FUEL EFFICIENT TRAFFIC SIGNAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach recognizes that it is in the interest of the national economy to promote the conservation of energy resources and to reduce our nation' s dependence on costly foreign oil; and Fuel efficient traffic signal management by the City of Huntington Beach will provide benefits to the local community in the form of improved traffic flow, reduced fuel consumption, reduced vehicle operating costs, reduced air pollutant emissions, and improved safety due to smoother flow; and Funds have been established and are available through the California Department of Transportation for grants to local governments for efficient traffic signal management projects; NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach resolves follows; SECTION 1 : The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to submit an application to the California Department of Transportation for a Fuel Efficient Traffic Signal Management grant . SECTION 2 : The Director of Public Works is further authorized and empowered to execute all necessary applications, 1 7 contracts, and agreements on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach, to implement and carry out the purposes specified in this resolution. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 19th day of August 1991.
