HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 6489 RESOLUTION # 6489 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATION IN THE CAREER CRIMINAL APPREHENSION PROGRAM WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach desires to continue participation in a certain project designated as the Career Criminal Apprehension Program, administered by the Office of Criminal Justice Planning (hereinafter referred to as OCJP) . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Ronald Lowenberg, Chief of Police of the City of Huntington Beach, is authorized on its behalf to submit the attached proposal to OCJP and is authorized to execute on behalf of the City Council the attached Grant Award Agreement including any extensions or amendments thereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the applicant agrees to provide all matching funds required for said project (including any amendments thereof) under the Program and the funding terms and conditions of OCJP and that the cash match will be appropriated as required. IT IS AGREED that any liability arising out of the performance of this Grant Award Agreement, including civil court actions for damages, shall be the responsibility of the grant recipient and the authorizing agency. The State of California and OCJP disclaim responsibility for any such liability. -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that grant funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant expenditures controlled by this body. Travel-Based on previous approval the program will continue to rent a car from Huntington Beach P.D. at $300 a month, includes, insurance and operating expenses. Also needed are funds to reimburse employees to drive personal vehicles. This is a regional program and requires regular cite visits to eight different agencies . Car rental $3 , 600 + employee reimbursement for 5 , 000 at $ . 24 a mile. $ 4 , 800 2 . Schools and Conference- Funding is required to send two new employees to DOJ crime analysis school at approximately $500 each. Consultant-This program is developmental with constant changes to meet changes in technology. The program will be developing a modern wide-area-network. Consultant services will be required to develop the computer system acting as a liaison with vendors and provide some training.
