A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH PERTAINING TO THE HUNTINGTON
YOUTH SHELTER
WHEREAS family preservation services are intended to maintain the safety of children in their
homes and help families through crises that might lead to removal of the child from their home, or speed
the return of children to their home, and
Family support services are primarily community-based preventive activities designed to
alleviate stress and promote parental competence,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, does hereby resolve as
follows:
1. The City of Huntington Beach will enter into a collaboration with the Huntington Youth
Shelter(HYS) to provide family preservation and support services, delinquency prevention , and other
juvenile crime prevention programs,
2. The City of Huntington Beachwill continue to operate the Chlldren's Needs Task Force
and direct that the Chlldren's Needs Task Force will act as an advisory committee for the collaboration
between the City of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Youth Shelter, and
3. The City of Huntington Beach will make the following services available to the
Huntington Youth Shelter through the above collaboration:
• Recreation
• Police referrals
• Junvenile delinquency diversion & family support
counseling under the current Community Service
Program contract
• Other juvenile related services that the City of
Huntington Beach would normally provide
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular
meeting held thereof on the l 7th day of July , 1995.

I, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of
the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said
City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach is seven, that the foregoing resolution was passed
and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said
City Council at an adjourned regular meeting thereof held on the 17th of July,
1995 the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers: Harman,Bauer, Sullivan, Leipzig,Dettloff,
Green, Garofalo
NOES: Councilmembers: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers: None
