A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH DESIGNATING DATES FOR THE
CLOSING OF MAIN STREET
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach has agreed to host several specific events to
promote visitation and tourism in the city;
These specific events involve activities located on Main Street in the downtown area,
and
These specific events draw large crowds which create pedestrian and vehicle conflicts.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach resolves as
follows:
The City wishes to close Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Orange Avenue in
the interests of public safety, crowd access, and event operation. The City Council declares by
this resolution its intention to request closure of Main Street from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., by the
California Transportation Commission for the following listed events:
March 23rd and 24th, 1996 Art Fair in the Downtown
April 27th and April 28th, 1996 Olympic Torch Run
September 7th and 8th, 1996 Fifth Annual Pierfest
September 21st and 22nd, 1996 Art Fair in the Downtown
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 4th day of March , 1996.

1, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of
the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-offtcio Clerk of the City Council of said
City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was passed
and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said
City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 4th of March, 1996 by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers: Harman, Leipzig, Sullivan, Dettloff, Green
NOES: Councilmembers: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers: Bauer, Garofalo
