A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH DESIGNATING A 19% NATIONAL
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT WEEK
WHEREAS, this community celebrates twenty-one years of Community Development
Block Grant program funding and continues its strong network of relationships between local
government, residents of community development target neighborhoods, also known as
Enhancement Areas, and the many non-profit agencies providing services; and
The City of Huntington Beach is a participant in the Community Development Block
Grant program which funds housing rehabilitation and housing development programs,
neighborhood improvement programs, economic development and a myriad of social service in
this community; and
The City of Huntington Beach recognizes that the Community Development Block
Grant program is a partnership of federal and local government, non-profit and community
efforts, individual property owners and housing developers, and that the services funded by
the Community Development Block Grant program, administered by the local government and
sometimes delivered by local non-profit organizations rely heavily on the dedication and
goodwill of these combined efforts; and
During the week of April 1-7, the City of Huntington Beach particularly celebrates its
accomplishments of this last year, the opening of the Oakview Branch Library, the recipient of
the Helen Putnam Award, and the completion of several public improvements and housing
rehabilitations in the Enhancement Areas; and
The City of Huntington Beach and its target neighborhoods have benefited from the
Community Development Block Grant Program through its Citizen Participation Plan, holding
public hearings on community development needs, and low and moderate income residents
help insure the quality and effectiveness of the Community Development Block Grant program;
The City of Huntington Beach champions efforts to provide fair housing choice in the
community and participates in Fair Housing Planning.
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach designates the week of April 1-7, 1996 as National Community
Development Block Grant Week in conjunction with the national celebration of the Community
Development Block Grant program throughout the country
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that during National Community Development Block
Grant Week 1996, the City of Hunting Beach thanks and honors all the participants whose
hard work and devotion improves the quality of life in the nation's and city's neighborhoods.
Copies of this resolution shall be conveyed to the appropriate elected and appointed
officials in the federal government so that the City of Huntington Beach can be added to the

roll of communities committed to the preservation and full funding of the Community
Development Block Grant program over the course of the next Congress.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at its
regular meeting held on this lst day of Atirii , 1996.

I, CONNIE BROCWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of
the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said
City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach is seven, that the foregoing resolution was passed
and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said
City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 1st of April, 1996 by the
following vote:
