HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 97-78 RESOLUTION NO. 97-78 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING AND IMPLEMENTING A SIDE LETTER OF AGREEMENT WITH THE HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, the Huntington Beach Municipal Employees Association("MEA")filed a grievance on behalf of one of its members on May 15, 1997, regarding performance of masonry work involving the position of the Block Masonry Worker and the reassignment of like duties to other qualified unit employees; and MEA and the City desire to settle the masonry work grievance by entering into this side letter; and In order to settle the grievance, the City and MEA desire to enter into a side letter to amend the Memorandum of Understanding with the Huntington Beach MEA for 1994 ("MOU"},which has since expired, yet the City is currently honoring; NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does resolve as follows: Section 1. The Side Letter of Agreement between the City of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Municipal Employees Association, a copy of which is attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof, is hereby adopted and ordered implemented in accordance with the terms and conditions thereof, and the Personnel Director is authorized to execute said Agreement. The following addition shall be incorporated into Article VII Special Pay of the MEA MOU: Add to Paragraph "C" Assignment Pay Block Masonry Pay -Permanent employees classified as Cement Finisher and qualified to perform block masonry duties shall be paid a premium, equal to three percent (31/o) of base pay, for all hours performing block masonry duties on non-regular scheduled work days."
