HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 99-39 RESOLUTION NO. 99-39 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURE FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach sponsors an annual Fourth of July Parade and related activities; Fourth of July and related activities occur on Main Street and elsewhere in the downtown area, and These Fourth of July and related activities draw large crowds which create pedestrian and vehicle conflicts; and The City Council has reviewed the street closure plan submitted by the Huntington Beach Police Department and has determined that the closure is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who might use said streets; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach resolves as follows: 1. The parade route and the parade formation areas designated below shall be closed to all vehicular traffic, including bicycles, except parade vehicles, beginning July 4th, 1999 at 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PARADE FORMATION AND DISBANDING AREA: Orange between 8th and Main 7th Street between Palm and Walnut 6th Street between Walnut and Main Pecan between 8th and Main Acacia between 8th and Main Acacia between Main Street and Lake Main between Acacia and Orange Main between Clay and Garfield Clay between Goldenwest and Lake Crystal between Clay and Garfield PARADE ROUTE: Main between Orange and Clay Palm between Main and Lake 12th between Main and Lake 1 7W99reso/j uly4th/04/2 3/99 In addition portions of the public right-of-way immediately adjacent to the parade route may be closed for purposes of crowd control, the erection of bleachers and the like as deemed necessary by City officials. 2. All the public streets in the area bordered by the following streets shall be closed to vehicular traffic, including bicycles, between July 4th, 1999, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending July 5th, 1999, at 2:00 a.m. Main Street to Seventeenth Street (Seventeenth to remain open) Pacific Coast Highway to Palm Avenue PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of 3une , 1999.
