HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 99-45 RESOLUTION NO. 99-45 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH CALLING UPON THE CALIFORNIA STATE LEGISLATURE TO ADOPT LEGISLATION TO PLACE A BOND ON THE BALLOT FOR COASTAL, WILDLIFE, PARK PROTECTION, ACQUISITION,. RESTORATION. WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach values its coast, beaches, parks wildlife, recreation and open space; and Protecting the California coast, parklands and wildlife greatly enhances quality of life for our citizens, for our community, and for visitors from around the world; and Funding through agencies such as the State Department of Parks and Recreation, Coastal Conservancy and the Wildlife Conservation Fund have been effective in protecting our beautiful coastline; and These agencies have had inadequate budgets for many years; and Huntington Beach urgently needs funds to improve its park and recreation facilities; and A general obligation bond represents the best hope for funding California's coastal, parks and wildlife needs; and California has not passed a coastal, wildlife, or park bond in over a decade, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Huntington Beach calls upon the California state legislature to adopt legislation that will place on the ballot a coastal, wildlife, or park bond in order to address these problems and make available needed funds for coastal protection, land acquisition, and park restoration.
