A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURE
FOR HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES IN THE DOWNTOWN
AREA AND REQUESTING CALTRANS APPROVE THE
CLOSURE OF MAIN STREET AT PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach desires to support a community
Halloween celebration and related activities;
The Downtown Business Association wishes to provide a safe and
entertaining event for families on Halloween, and
The Halloween celebration and related activities occur on Main Street and
elsewhere in the downtown area, and
The Halloween celebration and related activities draw large crowds which
create pedestrian and vehicle conflicts, and
The City Council has determined that the closure is necessary for the
safety and protection of persons who might use said streets,
The closure of Main Street at Pacific Coast Highway also requires the
approval of Caltrans.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
resolves as follows:
1 . The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach requests that
Caltrans approve the closure of Main Street at Pacific Coast Highway on October
31 , 1999, at 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., to accommodate the participants in the
Halloween celebration.

2. All the public streets in the area bordered by the following streets
shall be closed to vehicular traffic on October 31, 1999, at 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m..
Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Olive Avenue
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of
September , 1999.

I, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of
the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said City,
do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of September, 1999 by the
following vote:
AYES: Julien, Bauer, Garofalo, Green, Dettloff, Harman, Sullivan
NOES: None
ABSENT: Green
ABSTAIN: None
