A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO APPROVE THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF MAIN STREET FROM PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY
TO ORANGE AVENUE FOR HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA AND TO REQUEST THAT
CALTRANS APPROVE THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF
MAIN STREET AT PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY
WHEREAS,the City of Huntington Beach desires to support a community
holiday celebration; and
The Huntington Beach Youth Shelter wishes to provide a safe and entertaining
event for families on Sunday,November 26, 2000, called the "Light a Light of Love"
celebration, which includes a short parade up Main Street to Pier Plaza, and
The parade would necessitate the closure of a portion of Main Street from Pacific
Coast Highway to Orange Avenue to provide a safe environment for event participants
and avoid vehicle and pedestrian conflicts, and
The City Council has determined that the closure is necessary for the safety and
protection of persons who might use this portion of Main Street during the event, and
The closure of Main Street at Pacific Coast Highway also requires the approval of
CalTrans.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach resolves
as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach requests that CalTrans
approve the temporary closure of Main Street at Pacific Coast Highway on
Sunday, November 26, 2000 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to accommodate
the participants of this holiday celebration.
2. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach approves the temporary
closure of Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Orange Avenue to
vehicular traffic on November 26, 2000 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to
accommodate to participants of this holiday celebration.

the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said
City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the
members of said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the Bth
day of November, 2000 by the following vote:
AYES: Julien, Sullivan, Garofalo, Green, Dettloff, Bauer
