A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH GRANTING WAGE INCREASES TO NON-PERMANENT, UNCLASSIFIED
EMPLOYEES, EFFECTIVE MARCH 3, 2001.
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach ("City") employs approximately 450 part-time and
seasonal employees. Except for recurrent Ocean Lifeguards, none of these employees are represented by a
recognized employee organization. About one-half of these employees are classified and receive the same
wage increases as represented employees. The remainder of these non-permanent employees are
unclassified and perform duties which are not performed by classified employees.; and
WHEREAS, On January 1, 2001, the State minimum wage increased to $6.25 per hour. Although
this increase impacted only a couple of City employees, it did create compaction between the various wage
levels. On December 23, 2000,the City's non-permanent classified employees received a three percent
(3%)wage increase; and
WHEREAS, since most of the non-permanent unclassified employees who will be receiving a wage
increase pursuant to the authority of this resolution are employed for the Spring and Summer seasons, City
staff recommends that their increase be effective March 3, 2001.
NOW, THEREFORE,the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. That certain "Non-Permanent Salary Schedule - Effective March 3, 2001," a copy of
which is attached to this resolution as Exhibit A and incorporated by reference, is hereby adopted and
approved, and those City non-permanent,unclassified employees, whose job titles,job levels, salary ranges
and step increases are set forth on Exhibit A, shall be paid the respective wages set forth on the said exhibit.
SECTION 2: The effective date for the above-described wage increases shall be March 3, 2001.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 20th day of February , 2Q00- 2001.

I, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of
the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said
City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the
members of said City Council at a regutar meeting thereof held on the 20th
day of February, 2001 by the following vote:
