HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2001-76 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-76 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR URBAN RECREATIONAL AND CULTURAL CENTERS, MUSEUMS, AND FACILITIES FOR WILDLIFE EDUCATION OR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM UNDER THE SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS, CLEAN WATER, CLEAN AIR, AND COASTAL PROTECTION BOND ACT OF 2000 TO REFURBISH THE SHIPLEY NATURE CENTER LOCATED IN HUNTINGTON CENTRAL PARK WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the Urban Recreational and Cultural Centers, Museums, and Facilities for Wildlife Education or Environmental Education Program (the "Program") which provides funds to the State of California for grants to cities, counties, nonprofit organizations and federally recognized California Indian Tribes; and The City intends to use the grant funds received from the Program to refurbish the Shipley Nature Center located in Huntington Central Park(the"Project"); and The California Department of Parks and Recreation has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the Program within the State and the Project, setting up necessary procedures; and The procedures established by the California Department of Parks and Recreation require the City Council to certify by resolution the approval of the City's application before submission of the application to the State; and The City will enter into a contract with the State of California for the Project; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: I. The City approves the filing of an application for local assistance funds from the Urban Recreational and Cultural Centers, Museums, and Facilities for Wildlife or Environmental Education Program under the Safe Neighborhood Parks, Clean Water, Clean Air, and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2000; and 2. The City certifies that the City has or will have sufficient funds to operate and maintain the Project; and 01TesolURCC fundsijmfljn!10/3/01 I Res. No. 2001-76 1 The City certifies that it has reviewed, understands and agrees to the general provisions contained in the contract shown in the Program procedural guide; and 4. The City appoints its Director of Community Services as its agent to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to applications, agreements,payment requests and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the Project.
