A RESOLUTON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA
COASTAL COMMISSION FOR A WHALE TAIL GRANT
WHEREAS,the California Coastal Commission's(CCC)Whale Tail Grants Program supports
programs that teach children and the general public to value and take responsibility for the health of the
state's marine and coastal environments. Proceeds are generated through the sale of the CCC's Whale Tail
Coastal Protection License Plates. The funds also benefit the CCC's Adopt-A-Beach Program,California
Coastal Cleanup Day and a wide variety of coastal and marine education projects throughout the state; and
The California Coastal Commission is now accepting applications for the Whale Tail Competitive
Grants Program to fund an Environmental Education/Community Art Trash Receptacle Project; and
The Program's goal is to educate visitors and residents of coastal communities to value and take
responsibility for their coastal environments; and
No matching City funds are required for this grant; and
The City of Huntington Beach desires to make application for grant monies up to the grant amount of
$15,000.00 to fund an Environmental Education/Community Art Trash Receptacle Project along portions of
Pacific Coast Highway and Magnolia Street,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach as follows:
1. The Director of Public Works or his or her designee is hereby authorized to make application
to the California Coastal Commission for a grant in the amount of$15,000.
2. The Director of Public Works or his or her designee is hereby authorized to enter into a
contract with the California Coastal Commission on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach for the grant
monies.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 16 day of December ,2002

I, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk
of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of
said City, do hereby,certify that the whole number of members of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution
was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the
members of said City Council at an regular meeting thereof held on the
16th day of December 2002 by the following vote:
