A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
ESTABLISHING A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR
NON-PERMANENT EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, the City employs temporary employees to fill positions that a recognized
employee organization would represent if a permanent employee filled the position ("temporary
employees"); and
The City Council desires to increase the wages of such temporary employees in the same
manner as permanent employees and grant the same classification and compensation adjustments
permanent employees received; and
The wages of the permanent employees and the Municipal Employees Association
("MEA") have been increased by three percent (3%) effective January 19, 2002, pursuant to the
Memoranda of Understanding between the City and the MEA; and
These temporary employees should also receive the same classification and compensation
adjustments received by virtue of the Public Sector Personnel Consultants Classification and
Compensation Study, effective December 22, 2001, and granted to MEA employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby
resolve as follows:
Section 1. Effective January 19, 2002, the wages of all temporary employees are
hereby increased three percent (3%), in addition to any applicable adjustment resulting from the
Public Sector Personnel Consultants Classification and Compensation Study.

Section 2. This Resolution has no effect as to recurrent ocean lifeguards, since these
at-will employees are represented by a recognized employee organization.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 1st day of April 2002.

I, CONNIE BROCKWAY, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of
the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said
City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the
members of said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 1st
day of April, 2002 by the following vote:
AYES: Green, Dettloff, Bauer, Cook, Houchen, Winchell, Boardman
