HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2002-53 Ile) RESOLUTION NO. 2002-53 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING APPLICATION FOR GRANT MONEY TO REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR INSTALLATION OF BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEMS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 25403.8, the California Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission (Energy Commission) is authorized to provide grants to partially reimburse local agencies for material costs associated with battery backup systems for traffic signals; and In order to be eligible for funding, the battery backup systems must be used in conjunction with light emitting diode traffic signals, The City installed battery backup systems at ten traffic signals, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH does hereby: 1. Authorize the Director of Public Works to apply for funding from the California Energy Commission for battery backup systems operating with light emitting diode traffic signals. 2. If recommended for funding by the California Energy Commission, the Director of Public Works is authorized to accept a grant of up to $6,765.00 on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach and is empowered to execute all necessary grant application documents, and to undertake all actions necessary to complete this energy efficient project.
