HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2002-64 RESOLUTION NO. 2002-64 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO GRANT A DESIGATED PERIOD FOR TWO YEARS ADDITIONAL SERVICE N CREDIT WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach is a contracting Public Agency of the Public Employees' Retirement System; and The City desires to provide a designated period for Two Years Additional Service Credit, pursuant to California Government Code Section 20903,based on the contract amendment included in said contract that provided for the Section 20903 Two Years Additional Service Credit for eligible members, NOW, THERFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: 1. The City Council does hereby seek to add a designated period, and does hereby authorize this Resolution, indicating its desire to add a designated period for Two Years Additional Service Credit, from July 2, 2002, through and including September 30, 2002, for eligible miscellaneous members in the City of Huntington Beach. 2. The City Council hereby certifies that it is electing to exercise the provisions of said Section 20903 because of impending mandatory transfers, demotions, and layoffs that constitute at least 1 percent of the job classification, department, or organizational unit as designated by the City Council, resulting from the curtailment of, or change in the manner of performing, its services. 3. The City Council hereby certifies that if any early retirements are granted after receipt of additional service credit pursuant to the designated period set forth herein, the intention of the City Council is that at least one vacancy in any position in any department or other organizational unit shall remain permanently unfilled thereby resulting in an overall reduction in the workforce of the department or organizational unit.
