HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2002-91 RESOLUTION NO. 2002-_91 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH MODIFYING RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE REFUSE COLLECTION RATES FOR LOW INCOME SENIORS 62 YEARS AND OLDER WHEREAS, on June 17, 2002,the City Council adopted Resolution no. 2002-58 entitled "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach Establishing Residential Curbside Refuse Collection Rates;" and It is estimated that the Refuse Fund will have an operating deficit; and In an effort to decrease this deficit,the City Council, on September 16, 2002, approved a recommendation that all exempt low-income persons 62 years and older be required to pay 50% of the cost of the curbside refuse collection fees, NOW, THEREFORE,the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: 1. That the monthly rate for curbside residential refuse collection for basic level of service for all low income persons 62 years of age and older, as defined by Section 8.21.030 of the Huntington Beach Municipal Code, shall be 50%of the charge imposed by Section 8.21.030 of the Huntington Beach Municipal Code for noncommercial refuse collection service. This increase shall take effect on all billings after adoption of this Resolution. 2. That this charge for residential curbside collection will be combined with the residential water billing process. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of October , 2002.
