HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2004-23 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-23 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING THE BY-LAWS OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACHIFOUNTAIN VALLEY HAZARD MITIGATION COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act requires that a Hazard Mitigation Plan be developed with local agencies in order for the City to be eligible for any future Hazard mitigation grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and In order for the plan to be approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a hazard mitigation planning committee must be formed which includes multi jurisdictional participation; and The cities of Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley, along with four school districts, have formed a committee to develop a joint Hazard Mitigation Plan, with the cities taking the lead in writing the plan; and A grant for$135,000 has been written to supplement the personnel costs for the cities' employees involved in writing the plan; and In order for the agencies to be eligible for future grants, the plan must be adopted by each participating agency's governing body, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach as follows: 1. The bylaws for the Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley Hazard Mitigation Committee are hereby approved. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of May , 2004.
