HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2005-15 RESOLUTION NO. 2 0 0 5—1 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA TO EXECUTE SALE OF THEIR 17-ACRE CITY ZONED OPEN-SPACE-WETLAND PARCEL, TO THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL CONSERVANCY WHEREAS, the Regents of the University of California own title to a 17-acre parcel within the City of Huntington Beach, said parcel bounded by the Talbert flood control channel, Brookhurst Street, Pacific Coast Highway sand dunes, and wetlands owned by the Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy, Inc.; and Said parcel is designated by the City as Open Space, Wetland Conservation and zoned Coastal Conservation in accordance with the Huntington Beach Local Coastal Program approved by the California Coastal Commission; and Said parcel is limited to wetland conservation uses by provisions of the California Coastal Act of 1976; and A multi-agency Wetland Restoration Plan is under development that incorporates said parcel; and The Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy,a non-profit land trust corporation, is designated as lead organization in the Wetland Restoration Plan and as manager of the wetlands once restored; and The University of California has received from the California Coastal Conservancy an offer to purchase at fair market value said parcel for ultimate transfer to the Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby requests that the Regents of the University of California execute sale of the 17-acre parcel bounded by the Talbert flood control channel, Brookhurst Street, Pacific Coast Highway sand dunes, and wetlands, to the California Coastal Conservancy without further delay.
