HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2009-24 RESOLUTION NO. 2009-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ALLOWING MILITARY VETERANS WHO DISPLAY A DISTINGUISHING LICENSE PLATE TO PARK IN A METERED SPACE WITHOUT CHARGE WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 22511.3(a) provides that a veteran displaying special license plates issued under designated Vehicle Code sections may park his or her motor vehicle, weighing not more than 6,000 pounds gross weight, without charge, in a metered parking space; and California Vehicle Code Section 22511.3(d) further provides that a local authority's compliance with such is solely contingent upon the approval of its governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby approves allowing a military veteran displaying special license plates issued under Vehicle Code Sections 5101.3, 5101.4, 5101.5, 5101.6 or 5101.8 on a motor vehicle, weighing not more than 6,000 pounds gross weight, to park in any metered parking space, in the beach parking lots, and City- operated parking structures,without charge, when the license plate is displayed. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of May , 2009.
