A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF
MAIN STREET TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
FOR CERTAIN SPECIAL EVENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach hosts several special events and related
activities to promote visitation and tourism in the City; and
These special events and related activities occur on Main Street and 51h Street in the
downtown area; and
These special events and related activities draw large crowds which create pedestrian
and vehicle conflicts; and
In order to phromote public safety, the City Council has determined that the closure of
Main Street and 5t Street during the special events listed hereinbelow is necessary for the
safety and protection of persons who might use said streets,
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby
resolve that Main Street and 51h Street shall be closed to all vehicular traffic, including
bicycles on the dates and for the Special Events listed below. Closures shall be from 6:00
a.m. on the first day of the Special Event until 10:00 p.m. on the last day of the event:

March 24-25, 2012 Wavecrest Beach Cruiser Meet
June 16-17, 2012 Chili at the Beach
September 15-16, 2012 Surf City Days
October 31, 2012 Halloween Activities
December 2, 2012 Light a Light of Love

regular meeting thereof held on the 19th day of December , 20 11

Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on December 19, 2011 by the following vote:
AYES: Shaw, Harper, Dwyer, Hansen, Carchio, Bohr, Boardman
