HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2012-87 RESOLUTION NO 2012-87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF MAIN STREET TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC FOR CERTAIN SPECIAL EVENTS WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach hosts several special events and related activities to promote visitation and tourism in the City, and These special events and related activities occur on Main Street and 5tn Street in the downtown area, and These special events and related activities draw large crowds which create pedestrian and vehicle conflicts, and In order to promote public safety, the City Council has determined that the closure of Main Street and 5th Street during the special events listed herembelow is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who might use said streets, NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve that Main Street and 5tn Street shall be closed to all vehicular traffic, including bicycles on the dates and for the Special Events listed below Closures shall be from 6 00 a in on the first day of the Special Event until 10 00 p in on the last day of the event Date Special Event March 23-24, 2013 Wavecrest Beach Cruiser Meet April 27, 2013 California Cruise In June 15, 2013 Chili at the Beach July 25, 2013 Surfing Walk of Fame Induction September 14-15, 2013 Surf City Days October 31, 2013 Halloween Activities December 1, 2013 Light a Light of Love PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 17 tri day of 14,cember , 2012 Mayor RE VI AND APPROVED INITIATE AND�PPROVED City ,a ger Director of Co unity Services APPROVED AS TO FORM rty Atto ey �1� t��2� t 12-3571/87387 1 e)� , t Res.
