HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2015-69 RESOLUTION NO. 2015-69 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF 121H STREET IN SUNSET BEACH FOR THE ANNUAL SUNSET BEACH ART FESTIVAL AND HALLOWEEN PARTY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach desires to support community events and bring tourism to the City, and The City of Huntington Beach is a participating host of the Annual Sunset Beach Art Festival on May 7-8, 2016, and the Halloween Party on October 31, 2016; and The event organizers desire to continue a traditional event in the City of Huntington Beach and to showcase portions of Sunset Beach; and The event and related activities are expected to draw crowds which create pedestrian and vehicle conflicts; and This community event will require the closing of 12t' Street to accommodate participants and for the safety and protection of persons who might use the street, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: 1. To approve the temporary closure of 12'1' Street in Sunset Beach as deemed necessary for event management and public safety on Saturday and Sunday, May 7-8,2016, and on October 31, 2016. 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to approve traffic control plans to implement the roadway closures and traffic restrictions.
