HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2017-60 RESOLUTION NO. 2017-60 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF 12TH STREET IN SUNSET BEACH FOR THE ANNUAL SUNSET BEACH ART FESTIVAL AND HALLOWEEN PARTY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach desires to support community events and tourism in the City; and The City of Huntington Beach is a participating host of the Annual Sunset Beach Art Festival on May 12-13, 2018, and the Halloween Party on October 27, 2018; and The event organizers desire to continue a traditional event in the City of Huntington Beach and to showcase portions of Sunset Beach; and The event and related activities are expected to draw crowds which may create pedestrian and vehicle issues; and This community event will require the closing of 12"' Street to accommodate participants and for the health, safety and welfare of persons who might use the street, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: 1. Approve the temporary closure of 121h Street in Sunset Beach for event management and public health, safety and welfare on Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13, 2018, and on October 27, 2018. 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to approve traffic control plans to implement the roadway closures and traffic restrictions.
