Auer a complete review of competitive proposals from several vendors, the
AR5 Committeu has selected a vendor for the implementation of computer
hardware and software for. the Automated Records System. The selection was
predicated on`the total cost of the System, the scope of the System, ccr-
por'ate stability and demonstrated abil `y in data processing, systems coo
cept and.; vendor qualifications

Approve the contract to 'provide software and hardware for the Automated
Reporting System.
ANALYSIS.
On Jant+axy 19, 198l, the City Council passed a Req—z for City Council
Action authorizing the Huntington Reach Police Depa.'tment to aattplemexat
an automated ieporti.ng sys,; em to alleviate tediouf, , costly and ti ate -con
sUM ngfunctions involved in the preparation, storage, indexing, retrieval
and duplcati apt of case: .records for a, cost of $180,000. The development
of :the System is specified in the attached, vene *r contract submitted for
your review and approval. The Central. Processin(j Unit and associated per-
ipberal equipment will be housed within the controlled environment of the
City's Central Data Processing Center.
FUNDING SOURCE:
ado new fiscal impact to the City. Total expenditttres of this contract are
$1.80, 000, which has been approved as fund.5 in the City Council Request for
Council Action, authorizing the expenditure !
