In regard to the Coumty taxat-i€an of the American
Lesion lease pertaining to Memorial. Ral l, 1 am sorry to
report thAt, apparently nothing can be done.
The Assessor said that since there is a possessory
Interdst by the .American Legion, that tUs its taxable as
would he the case In other organizations. he otabed that
there are other American Legion poste In Orange County
which are subject to the sane tax.
Ry suggestion ;is that the lease with the City be
eanoelled. ;and the City could ;use: allow thh .American
Legion to use tht- space in. Memorial Hall without compen-
sation, but not under any c€anbraotP or lease.
Yours very truly*

Some of the tables are too badly damagec, o use and there

Gentlemen:
The Legion Post has reserved the Memorial Hall
on the night of May 1.6, 1958, for the County wide,
"Boys State Dinner."
The Post would be grateful for a waviar of
the rental. fees for this occasion.
The sole purpose this program is to raise
funds to send the boys to Sw—eamento in June, to study
and participate in the operation of civic government.
Said feest if thus waived, would be used to
help send our city of Huntington Beach Represenative
to Sacramento first class, with ample funds to campign
effectively for one of the many elective positions in
State government the boys are encouraged to vie for.
Respectively pours,
icseph Rodman Post 133
