City Administrator's Comments CU Approve as recommended.A:PPROVT'J sY CaTy COUN Statement of Issue, Recommendation, Analysis, Funding Source, Alternative Actions: Statement o Issue: The pumping unit recently purchased, for the Slater_ Storm Drain Pump Station will arrive for installation in the fall of this year. A building must be designed and constructed iix order to house the pumping equipment. Due to the current workload, the City's eng:,neering staff -I,annot prepare the building construction plans and specifications at this time. Recommended Action: Authorize a Request for Proposals (RFP) from consulting engineers for the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of the Slater Storm. Drain Pump Station building. Analysis: On Nov. 6, 1978, the City Council awarded a contract for the purchase of an additional pumping unit for the Slater Storm Drain Pump Station. The pumping equipment is scheduled to be delivered in the fall; however, the temporary building now being utilized at this site is not large enough to house the new pumping unit. It is now necessary to design and construct a new pump building to house present and future pumping facilities. Due to the current workload the City's engineering staff cannot prepare the building construction plans and specifications at this time; therefore,'it is necessary to 'hire a consulting enginoer for the required design. Alternatives: Postpone the design of the project and the installation of the new pumping unit. This would leave portions of the drainage district :subject to possible flooding Funding: Dra—` n c— District No. 9 funds are now available for this project. The esti- mated .. for engineering services is $25,000 and was budgeted in the 78-1`_ .pital Improvement budget. The estimated construction cost is $250,04 and is proposed for the 179-180 Capital Improvement budget. MZ:WAP:jy, hlo Itl!9 I WARNER 5 AVE IL RT 1.iO).—C i.
