AND COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT THIS AGIIEEMENT entered into by and between the CITY OF "UNTINGTON ._-ACH.> a municipal corporation ('CITY), and COAST CC?ryMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT (COLLEGE), on 4 -i Iry _, ''�5 y7 1 o RECITALS A. CITY ba.s established a public library system with branehes located 3.n the City of Huntington Beach, California. H. COLLEGE requires library services on a continuing basis and CITY is willing to provide such services on the terms and conditions set forth "herein. C. Title I, Part II, Chapter 2, Article 4 of the Cali- fornia Education ;ode Provides for and allows such agreements invt l,ri�:g snared resources. In consideration of the mutual premises contained herein, and of the mutual benefit to be de ivied hereunder, the parties agree as follows: ?. Services; to be provided: CIT' shall provide the following library* services pursuant to the terms and ocnaitions o,' this ah•re-ent. (1) IMaterials Acquisition CITY shall order, receive and cat :.og e_ materials on behalf of COLLEGE and pur- suant to written request from he Director of Learning Systems and Services of COLLEGE or -its designated representatives Such materials shall be .integrated into CTTY'S library colle-- tion except that certain of such materials way be temporarily 0 removed from the collection by request of COLLEGE. Risk of loss or damage to such materials shall be the sole responsibility of COLLEGE, and it is expressly understood that the leg~_'- title to all materials purchased pursuant to this agreement and on be- half of COLLEGE, shall vest in COLLEGE for a peri3d of seven (7) years from the date of purchase, after which such title shall vest in CITY. (2) Reference Services: College students shall be entitled to the same reference service available to all library patrons. (3) Circulation: College students shall be entitled to :the same circulation privilleges available to all other library patrons. (4) Audio Visual E�ui:pment: College students shall be entitled to the name audio visual equipment services available to all other library patrons. If, however, additional equipment is required to meet additi;nal needs of college students, CITY is under no obligation to supply such additional equipment. Further, agrees that i.t will take necessary stems to pro- vide such additional e. u,ipment should fsuzh Need arise. In the event COLLEGE provides such audio visual equipment for use by library patrons, such equipment maj be repaired by CITY at the CITY operated library repair facility, provided, However, that CITY shall be reimbursed for all expenses incurred in connection with such repairs, (5) 3ibllograpn es: CITY shay provide ten (10) bibliographies per year at no cosy to COLLEGE.. Should COLLEGE 2. a require more than ten (10) bibliographies in any one year, COLLEGE will reimburse CITY for such additional bibliographies on a direct cost basis. S I.uK Statement of Issue, Recommendation, Analysis, Funding Source, Alternative Actions: Statement of Issue: Coast Corntmi.�nity College requires library services for its students. Recouunendation: Approve the attached agreement permitting the City to provide library services for Coast Community College District in exchange for books paid for by Coast. Analysis: The attached agreement between the Huntington Beach Public Library and Coastline College provides a process whereby both agencies join together, for the b.unefit of the public and the Coastline College sttdent. In recognition of the concept of the "college without walls" plus a need to provide library service for the Coas•line Community College, this agreement is sabmitted for your endorsement.. In essence, it is an agreement whereby Coastline College agrees to place library materials in the Huntington.
