Recommended Action: Accept the low bid and award the contract to Ken Thompson, Incorporated in the amount -of $166,111.-00 and reject all other bids. Analysis: On March 5, 1980 the City received bids for the subject project and the bids are listed below in order of dollar amount: 1. Ken Thompson, Inc. $166,11.1.0'0 2. D.G.:Conc,- "e Construction 196,575.00 3. G.R. Frost, ..,... 723,140.00 4. Bebek Company 227,469.00 The project was estimated to cost $155,000.60,.therefore the low bid ' is 7% hig7:er than the estimate. This is probably due to the large amount of_ rain water ponded onthe project'site that needs to be !drained off prior to the start of construction. In addition, the. native ground has become saturated imking construction more difficult. Statement of Issue, Recommendation; Analysis, Funding Source, Alternative Actions: Statement of Issue: In -order to support ' the development of industrial property in the.Gpthard/ Talbert area, the first phase of the Gothard/Talbert storm drain and sewer should be constructed. Recommended`Action: Approve the plans, specifications, Negative Declaration 78-112 and authorize the call for bids to construct the Gothard/Talbert Storm Drain and Sewer, Phase I. Analysis: On October 1, 1979, the City Council authorized the staff to proceed with a contract to install a storm drain and sewer main from Gothard St. to the railru"ad, The storm drain would provide an underground system in an area that presently surface drains, and the sewer main is needed in order to eliminate the Talbert sewer lift station at a future date. The City's Environmental Review Committee has recommended the granting of Negative Declaration 78-112. Alternative: Do not construct the storm drain and sewer main, leaving them to future - developers to install on a reimbursement basis. und inn : TT is project is estimated to cost $155,600 and will be financed in the following manner: Drainage District 9 funds: $1251ppp City Sewer fund: $ 30,000 PEC:WAP:jy Flo 3ne PLAcNi1 • 'i ra "SECTIONAL 'DISTRICT 2 6 -~5-~11 CITY OF HUNTINGTON B 1J i - D 0kANGE 'COUNTY., CA1,1 V6I N 1 A USE OF PROPERTY MAP 0 I*"M.r ♦. %_--_ y 1 WARNER Il ,l Il a.
