A.naly%ls, Funding Source, Alw-natkn Actions, Attaohnwnts: OC190 Statement of Issue: The existing pumping units At the. Newland Pump Station cannot accommodate the design flows entering the station. Therefore a pumping unit with increased capacity in necessary to provide additional protection from flooding for the residents in the drainage area.. Pecommended Action: Approve the plans and specifications for the purchase; of a pumping unit for the Newland Storer Drain Pump Station and authorize the call for ;aids. AnalXsis During the winter rains, extremoly high water levels are expes:iamctd at Cie Newland Pump Station. This causes the water to h)%ck up into the stroetr- and flooding to occur in some portions of the drainage area. In order to lcwer the water level, additional pumping capacity is needed. The City's Master Plan of Storm Drains indicates that the existing pump station is 631 deficient. This now pumping unit will replace 15 year old pumping equipment and will significantly increase they capacity of the station. It is imperative that the pump, gear drive and engine be ordered at this time because the equipment delivery time is estimated to be nines months. The increased pumping capacity will then be available for next year's rainy season. Alternatives: 1. Do not purchase the now puraping equipment. This would loave portions of the drainage area subject to flooding. 2. Postpone the purchase of the pumping equipment to a I x►:+:r date, Because of delivery time, this will not allow sufficient time to install the the pumping unit prior, to next year's rainy season. Fundin : This is a Counc:.l approved budgeted project and is estimated to cost $1R0,000, It is financed from City Drainage District 71! and the Account number iu 825770.
