WITNESSETH : .wr r.r rw wn• �w 1 1 • WHEREAS, COUNTY desires certain paramedic services being provided by CITY as discussed below; and WHEREA..S. CITY has the ability try provide such services to COUNTY unincor- porated islands within the city boundaries; NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto agree as follows: 1 . As used herein, the term "paramedic service" means the delivery of emergency medical care to sick and injured persons at the scene of an emergency by mc',ile intensive care paramedics who have been certified pursuant to the Wedworth-Townsend Paramedic Act (Health and Safety Code Sections 1480 to 1485). , C Such term does not include the transportation of such sick or injured persons to 1 a huspital or other, medical care factl;ty. 2. CITY shall provide paramedic service to that COUNTY territory indicated e in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. In the event any such territory ceases to be unin- j rerporatec, it shall be deemed excluded from .the provisions of this Agreement. COUNTY liability for paramedic services to such territory shall be reduced prorata t i tto the date such territory ceases to be unincorporated. 3. The level of service provided shall be the same as that provided to other areas being furnished paramedic service by CITY. i 4. the specific details of the service to be provided under this Agreement ' and general operational policies including, but not limited to, communications, types of equipment, procedures, pe► sonnel , written re�arts, and response patterns shall be determined by the City Fire Chief with consultation with the County Fire Warden. T'Y, S M1:b: .4 ,ti,� �I• ','`. . a. .> ."?=".n17'' 'J 'w ' t I j (a) For services pro% lded prior to July 1 , 1977, the sum of $ 10014.009 payable on or before June 1 � 1+ 977 ; (b) For services provided on and after July 1 , 19779 an amount equal to the total annual operating cost to CITY of providing paramedic service multiplied by the percentage ratio of population served in the unincorporated territory under this Agreement compared to the total combined population of all incorporated and unincorporated areas served by CITY, j f �. The population figures effective during any fiscal year shall be on the I basis of estimated census tract data, as reported by COUNTY on January 1 of the prior fiscal year, commencing January i , 1977., The estimated costs of providing -said service shall be computed by CITY on the basis of the adopted annual CITY budget for paramedic service. On or before March 1 of each year, ca-111mencing March of 1.977, the City Fire Chief shall notify the County Fire Warden in writing nF said estimated cost for the following fiscal year. Said sum shall he paid to CITY by COUNTY in equal semiannual installments on June 30 and Jaruariy 1 , commencing June 30, 1977. 3 6. The term of this Agreement shall end on June 30, 1979, provided that either party may terminate the Agreement effective June 30 of any year upon giving at least three months' written notice of intent to terminate. :t. COUNTY shall indemnify, hold harmless and defend the CITY, its ! officers, agents, and employees against all liability, claims, losses, demands, and actions for injury to or death of persons or damage to property arising out i of the acts or omissions of COUNTY, its officers, agents, or employees in the 3 performance of this Agreement. CITY shall indemnify, hold harmless, and defend the COUNTY, its r officers , agents, and employees against all liability, claims, losses, demands, , and actions for injury to or death of persons or damage to property arising out i of the acts or omissions of CITY, its officers, agents, or employees in the performance of this Agreement. WIYNESSETIf , WHEREAS, COUNTY desires certain paramedic services being provided by CITY t as discussed below; and ` WHEREAS, CITY has the ability to provide such :services to COUNTY unincor- porated islands within the city boundaries ; NOW, THEREFORE , the parties hereto agree as follows: ' 1 . As used herein, the term "paramedic service" means the delivery of emergency medical care to sick and injured persons at the scene of an emergency by mobile intensive care paramedics who have been certified pursuant to the Wedworth-Tovnsend Paramedic ;act (Health and Safety Code Sections 1480 to 1485) . Such term does not include the transportation of such sick or injured persons to a hospital or other medical care facility. 2. CITY shall provide paramedic service to that COUNTY territory indicated ; in Exhibit "A" attached here-co. In the event any such territory ceases to be unin- cor orat,_d it shall be deemed excluded from the provisions of this Agreement. COUNTY liability for paramedic services to such territory shall be reduced prorata to the date such territory ceases to be unincorpuraiEd. { { The level of service provided shall be the same as that provided to other areas beingfurnished paramedic service b C11Y. AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS s a x Attention : Floyd Belsito PARAMEDIC SERVICE AGREEMENT — SUNSET BEACH, COUNTY TERRITORY The City entered into an Automatic Aid Agreement (fire response • only) with the County of Orange Fire Department in November 1975. This Acy.ceement has been satisfactory and of mutual i benefit for both the City and the residents of Sunset Beach. At the present time the residents of Sunset Beach are not being provided w-;:.th paramedic services. The City and the County have worked out a Paramedic Agreemttrot for the City to provide: paraittedic services to this area on an Annual Fee basis, as defined in the attached Agreement. It is my recommendation 1 that the City enter into the Paramedic Agreement with the County of Orange to provide paramedic service to the area delineated in the attached map. This Agreement will continue until the i Seal Beach paramedic unit is placed in se:,.-vice next July. Thi e- ommendation can be implemented by adopting Resolution 14 and Agreement approval between the County of Orange and the Huntington Beach Fire Department. Members j Subject AU:iOMATIC AID AGREEM.ENTr- Date November 18 , 1975 COUNTY OF ORANGE FIRE { DEPARTMENT (RESOLUTION t NO. 4162) The City has had a Fire Protection Mutual Aid Agreement with the j County of Orange (Sunset Beach) for many years. This contract has been satisfactory and of mutual benefit for both the City and the residents of Sunset Beach. � f concerned about the increased n�.�unber of f � The Fire Chief is greatly fire emergencies and medical aid calls , in the City and particularly }r' in the Heil Fire Station responsibility area. Because the Warner a Fire Company is utilized to provide back up coverage to other portions of the City, they may not be available to answer emergencies in the Western Huntington Harbour Area. The best solution to this problem would be to utilize the County' s Volunteer Fire Company r located in :sunset Reach. It is the Fire Chief' s recommendation that the City enter into an Automatic Aid Agreement with the County of Orange (Sunset Beach Fire Station) to provide back up fire protection in the Huntington Harbour area lying North of Warner and West of the Main Channel. Conversely, it is the County' s desire to obtain Automatic Aid response from our Warner or Heil Fire Station for added fire protection in Sunset Beach. G This recommendation can be implemented by approving an Agreement that has been prepared by both the County of 0. ange Fire Department and the Huntington Beach Fire De}part� nt.
