REC(fiMENDATION: 1. Accept the work completed by Skipper and Company. 2. Instruct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion. ANALYSIS: On November 17, 1980, the City entered into a contractual agreement with Skipper and Co. for the construction of Water Well Pump Station Number 4. Construction of the facility has been completed per the plans and specificati,)ns and therefore, the Public Works Depart- ment recommends acceptance of the project and rcq gists that the Notice of Completion be filed by the City Clerk. As a result of four essential Change Orders, the cost of construction exceeded the con- tract amount of $87,915.00 by $1,350. 00• However, this overage is substantially below the Change Order amount authorized by the City Council. One bid was received at the November 3 , 1980 bid opening. Recommendation : Accept the 'bid of Skipper and Company in the amount of $87 , 915. 00 and authorize the execution of the contract by the Mayor and City Clerk . The low bid exceeds our $85 , 000. 00 estimate by 3+%. Analysis : The work consists of (1) Pre-fabricated metal building to house the existing natural gas engine ; (2) Pre-fabricated metal enclosure to house existing well pump; (3 ) A fiberglass building to house water treatment facilities; (4 ) Appurtenances to complete the facility, such as grading , paving, plumbing , electrical , painting, etc. Alternative Actions : Reject low bid and re-advertise.
