OFISSUE : The Wakeham Construction Company has completed, at a total contract price of•$24,75.9.61 the replacement of existing stairway at the Municipal Pier. Included in the final price 'is $1, 348.75• for credit contract quantities used and $513.36 in Change Orders. Appoval is needed for the Change Orders. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Approve Change'Orders 1 and 3 in the amount of $513.36 - additions and Change Order 2 in the amount of $1,348.75 credit. 2. Accept the work completed by Wakeham Construction Company. 3. Instruct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of the contract cost and a discussion of the contract changes. Change Order No. 1 This change order was necessary to fill an uncharted existing wet well, with approximately 8 yards of one sack sand — slurry. Wet well was discovered after demolition of existing stairway. The actual cost of this change is ;;279.21. Chancre Order No. 2 After demolition of existing stairway it was found that an existing wall that was to be removed, was struictually strong and in good condition. Removal would have caused collapse of large area of concrete decking at top of stairway. Total credit to contract $1,348.75. Change Order No. 3 It was necessary to negotiate a change in the contract cost for additional fabrication of stairway handrail, in order that handrail would fit existing condition of pier. The actual cost of this change is $234.15. FUNDING SOURCE The project funds came from $25,595.00 revenue sharing monies which were previously approved by the City Council at the meeting of April 16, 1979. Recommendation: Approve plans and specifications and authorize City Clerk to publish the Notice of Inviting Sealed Bids to replace the existing pier stairway. Analysis: The existing pier stairway is planned to be removed and reconstructed with slump stone rataining walls, standard type tread, risers, four foot landing x* in center, and new handrails which will bring the stairs to recommended safety standards. Funding Source: The project cost is estimated at $20,000.00 to be obtained from revenue sharing monies, previously approved by the City Council on November 20, 1:'78.
