REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
MEETING DATE: 12/17/2012 DEPARTMENT ID NUMBER: PL12-030
Analysis:
Currently, there are three vacancies on the HRB due to resignations. The vacancies were
posted by staff. City Council liaisons to the HRB Mayor Connie Boardman and Mayor Pro
Tern Matthew Harper reviewed the applications received. After careful consideration of the
candidates, the City Council liaisons recommend the appointments of Ann Minnie and David
Wentworth Sr. to the HRB. Both applicants are long-time residents interested in preserving
the history of the city. Ann Minnie has been active with the Friends of the Library, the Art
Center, and the HB High School Alumni Association. David Wentworth Sr. is the son of
Alicia Wentworth, former City Clerk and City Historian and great grandson of Ed Manning,
first Huntington Beach mayor.
It should be noted that a third applicant, Duane Wentworth, will be eligible for appointment
sometime in 2013 when he retires from his employment with the city.
Environmental Status: Not applicable.
Strategic Plan Goal: Improve long-term financial sustainability.
